Panther City School of Instrument Repair offers a hands-on, immersive apprenticeship programs that empower students to master the art of musical instrument repair.
With over 60 years of combined expertise, our master technicians specialize in the manufacturing, modification, restoration, and repair of brass, string, woodwind, and percussion instruments.
We blend time-honored repair techniques with cutting-edge technology, ensuring our students develop the skills needed to excel in a constantly evolving industry. Join our school and be part of shaping the future of musical instrument repair.
Program Eligibility
- Graduating HS Seniors or Older
- Availability of 25 hours Per Week Consistently
- Reliable Transportation
- Must play a musical instrument

Brass Technician Course – 12 Month Course
Course Plan
1. Disassembly, Cleaning, & Maintenance of Brass Instrument Family
2. Solder Work (Including Silver Solder)
3. Buffing & Solder Clean Up
4. Brass Dent Work
5. Trumpet – 1 month minimum
6. Trombone – 1 month minimum
7. French Horn - (minor repairs) 1 month minimum
8. Euphonium/Baritone – 1 month minimum
9. Tuba – 1 month minimum
10. Proper Play Test Brass Instrument Family
11. Bench Test Monthly Includes:
• Timed (To establish baseline repair time)
• Complete Disassembly/Reassembly
• Cleaning
• Accessible Dents
• Solder Work
• Solder Clean-Up
